Mosaic

We define mosaic as a surface which is clad in small pieces of diverse materials which have been arranged to form a design or a picture.

Traditional Italian techniques are characterised by their attention to colour and relief, together with the use of marble, travertine, smalt (blue powder) and glass.

Whether for decorative objects or for architectural features, the range of materials, the designs and functions are myriad.

Religious and classical art inspire the creation of these works, but they can also be contemporary as demonstrated by the Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi

The search for perfection involves a study of light in order to choose shape and colour associations.

This is followed by a study of volume inspired by the development of colours and shadow. Volume, movement and light are brought together.

Although recognised as art, mosaics are often used in the building process.

Mosaic sparkles when it comes into contact with water in Italian showers, fountains, ponds and pools. It decorates the walls of your home with friezes or frescos.

The use of cobbles or paving stones can decorate your paths and terraces.
